Hello! I’m Maria Lucia
(but I usually go by Malú)
I’m a product designer who cares deeply about people, systems, and the spaces where the two meet.
I’m especially drawn to accessible design, and to work that supports communities who are often overlooked, particularly in healthcare.
My path to design hasn’t been a straight line. Along the way, I’ve explored engineering, medical research, and visual communication, and each has shaped how I think, ask questions, and design with intention.

Design is a way of looking at the world
with an eye toward changing it
-Warren Berger
Design as Care
I approach empathy as awareness of bias and context, using research and observation to better understand how people think, act, and feel.
For me, design begins with curiosity, using research and hands-on exploration to uncover how where change can truly help.
Experimentation
I rely on research to shape design direction, using insights from users, systems, and testing to guide choices, ensuring outcomes are intentional
